Leisure and Tourism
Ringwood Town has something to offer everyone. Set on the edge of The New Forest National Park, situated in the Avon Valley between Southampton and Bournemouth,
Ringwood is a picturesque market town which dates back to as early as 1086 where an entry in the Doomsday Book recorded a settlement with a church and a mill.
In 1226,
Ringwood was granted the right to hold a weekly market. This market still runs today, every Wednesday in the town centre.
Ringwood and the surrounding villages of Burley, Bransgore, Ellingham, Harbridge and Ibsley have much to offer visitors to the area. Whether you are looking for a town centre hotel, a country B&B or a campsite, there is something for everyone. Eating out offers a wide range of restaurants and eateries to suit all tastes and budgets, from A La Carte, Fish and Fine Dining to trendy Coffee houses, Cream Teas and traditional home cooked country fayre.
There's lots to see and do in and around
Ringwood. From extensive coarse fishing on the River Avon and picturesque river walks, to historical homes, galleries, craft centres, the magic of Burley and tree top walks at Moors Valley. Why not take a trip into The New Forest or along the Avon Valley? Take the transport of your choice: by foot, by bicycle or by horseback.
With Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury just a short drive away,
Ringwood offers the perfect base from which to explore The New Forest, the local beaches and the nearby towns and cities of the South Coast.
