Few football clubs in Hampshire can boast that they are 129 years old, but an ancient copy of the old Ringwood Almanac reveal that Ringwood Town Football Club was formed in 1879. The club is first mentioned in county records in 1886 when it used the title of Ringwood Hornets.

In recent years RTFC has climbed the non-league ladder and currently play at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid in the Sydenhams Wessex League Division One. The 2008-09 season has seen the club enter the FA Cup for the first time in its history and managed to win through the first qualifying round before being knocked out by Southern League side Marlow in a replay.

The club play their trade at Long Lane in Ringwood and a sponsorship deal with local company Canotec saw the ground renamed the Canotec Stadium in 2007.   The clubhouse is available to hire and further details can be found at http://www.ringwood-venue.co.uk/

Ringwood Town FC has developing links with the community and talks are currently taking place with the successful Ringwood Rangers Youth FC to amalgamate the two clubs. Furthermore, Ringwood Town FC is the home ground of AFC Bournemouth Ladies and is hoping to form a Veterans team for the coming season.

RTFC relies on the support of local people. The club has always been well supported by the community but in these uncertain financial times the committee would welcome any expression of interested from local companies looking to develop sponsorship and advertising links with the club.
